Indees rally past Norse in final volleyball match

A 2-0 lead didn’t hold for the Whitehall volleyball team as Independence rallied to win three straight, ending the high school volleyball season in the area with a thriller.
The match featured five close sets with Whitehall winning the first two by a combined seven points before Independence won the last three by a combined 11 points. The teams were scheduled to play again on Thursday, but Whitehall was forced to cancel school due to issues with the fire alarm system in the school building.
Whitehall finished the season with a match record of 12-4, while Independence’s final match record was 7-5.

After four sets, the teams were tied 2-2 with each team scoring 93 points, but the Indees came out on top in the fifth set.
Whitehall took the first two sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-21 before Independence tied the match with wins of 25-22 and 25-21. Like the rest of the match, the fifth set was close, but the Indees gained the final edge late with a four-point win.
Ziy Conner led the Indees at the net with 22 kills and four blocks and at the service line with four aces. Aubrie Pronschinske added 11 kills while Alana Back had seven, Amiah Ives finished with four and Avery Pape had three. Back and Ives also both had one block.
Adison Pronschinske led the Indees with 38 set assists as Ives had four and Back finished with one.
Emerson Pronschinske’s 16 digs led the way for the Indees while Aubrie Pronschinske added 15, Pape had 13, Adison Pronschinske finished with eight, Hailey Witte had five, Conner finished with three and Ives had one.
In addition to four aces from Conner, Aubrie Pronschinske had two and both Witte and Adison Pronschinske had one.
Olivia Youngbauer wrapped up her WHS career with 46 assists and four aces. Allison Koepke had 31 kills and 13 digs while Nylah Lisowski had 11 kills, Kambrie Wurzer had 12 digs and Abigail Semb finished with five aces.
