Indees swept by Boyceville

The Independence/Gilmanton volleyball team reached 20 points just once as it fell to Boyceville in straight sets last week Tuesday. 

The Indees got off to a rough start, dropping the first set, 25-13. They were closer in the next two sets, but fell in both, 25-20 and 25-17.

It was a balanced attack for the Indees at the net. Nora Schank led the team with four kills, one more than Shauna Dejno while Makiyah Scow, Hannah Ekern and Hadley Sylla all had two and Arabelle Kniseley had one. 

Ekern had team-highs with eight set assists and three service aces. Danika Ekern had four assists and one ace, while Schank had two aces. 

Danika Ekern had a team-best 11 digs, one more than Schank. Both Kniseley and Hannah Ekern had six. 

The Indees also played in a tournament hosted by Black River Falls on Saturday, however, scores and statistics were not provided to the Times before the newspaper went to press. 

I/G was set to play Coulee Christian in Gilmanton on Tuesday of this week before heading to Pepin to play Pepin/Alma. This coming Tuesday, the team heads to Eleva-Strum then goes to Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday.
