Indees top Beavers to stay undefeated in DC play

The Independence/Gilmanton volleyball team continued to roll last week, winning three straight sets after dropping the opener to beat Augusta and set up what could be a match for the Dairyland Conference title later this week.

Augusta won the first set, 25-22, and the second could’ve gone either way, but the Indees pulled out a 28-26 victory. I/G went on to win the third set by four before dominating the fourth, 25-10, to win the match.

Individual statistics were not available before press time.

That win put I/G at 15-2 on the season and 4-0 in Dairyland Conference play.

The Indees played at Alma Center Lincoln (2-11, 1-3) on Tuesday. A win there could set up a match for first place at Blair-Taylor (12-4, 3-1) on Thursday. For the Wildcats to be in contention, they would need to defeat Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Monday and Osseo-Fairchild on Tuesday.

The Indees will be in action again next week as the team hosts Osseo-Fairchild on Tuesday and heads to Melrose-Mindoro on Thursday.
