Independence, B-T beat Gilmanton at E/PC quad

The Independence and Blair-Taylor volleyball teams both went 1-2 at the Elmwood/Plum City quadrangular last Tuesday with wins against the same fellow Dairyland Conference team.

That was the first competition of the season for both teams. Independence also competed in a tournament in Neillsville on Saturday.

B-T opened the season 1-2 and will play again next Thursday when they host Gilmanton. 

The Indees begin this week with an overall match record of 2-6. They’ll be in action again next Thursday when they head to Cochrane-Fountain City. 

EPC Quad

B-T opened with a 25-13, 25-19 loss to the host school before scoring a win of 25-13, 25-23 against Gilmanton. They finished the quad with a loss of 25-11, 25-21 to Chetek-Weyerhaeuser.

 Statistics were not reported to the Times.

I/G started with two losses, including a close match against Shell Lake in which the Indees dropped two sets by a combined five points. After losing to Shell Lake 25-22, 25-23, the Indees fell to C-W 25-13, 25-17. They finished with a win, however, beating Gilmanton 25-19, 25-18.

Alana Back led the team with five kills against Shell Lake to go with one block and one dig. Avery Pape added three kills and five digs while Aubrie Pronschinske had two kills, five digs and four service aces. Adison Pronschinske and Maggie Woychik both had one kill, with Pronschinske adding 11 set assists, one dig and one ace. Rhianna Theisen had four digs. 

Aubrie Pronschinske had a team-best four kills and five digs against C-W. Pape had three aces to go with four digs and one kill. Kassidi Dejno added a kill, a block and four digs while Theisen had one kill and one dig and Woychik had two kills. Adison Pronschinske had six assists and three digs, Taylor had three digs and Grace Roskos added two. 

Aubrie Pronschinske led the team at the net against Gilmanton too as she had five kills to go with 11 digs and a team-best four aces. Pape and Theisen both had three kills with the former adding one block and five digs and the latter adding an assist. Adison Pronschinske chipped in with two kills, eight assists, eight digs and one ace. Woychik added an assist and a dig while Roskos had a dig and an ace, Dejno had two aces and one dig and Taylor had one dig. 

Neillsville tournament

The Indees competed in a tournament at Neillsville on Saturday where they went 1-4, again defeating Gilmanton 25-21, 25-12.

Adison Pronschinske had 15 assists in the match to go with seven digs, one ace and one kill. Aubrie Pronschinske led the squad with five kills and three aces, while adding six digs. Pape had here kills, seven digs and an ace, Dejno added a kill, two digs and an ace; Theisen had three kills and two digs, Woychik had four kills and a block and Gracie Rombalski had one kill. Taylor and Roskos both had two digs. 

The Indees fell to Mondovi, 25-15, 25-21; Neillsville, 25-20, 25-14; Pittsville, 25-20 twice and Greenwood, 27-29, 25-22, 15-11. 

Aubrie Pronschisnke had a team-best 17 digs against Mondovi while adding three kills and two aces. Roskos added 13 digs while Pape had four kills and eight digs, Adison Pronschinske had 11 assists and two digs; Theisen had two kills, one assist and two digs and Woychik had one kill. Taylor chipped in with one dig. 

Aubrie Pronschinske led the team in kills (three) and digs (11) against Neillsville. Pape added two kills and nine digs, Theisen had the team’s only other kill, as she also had two digs. Adison Pronschinske had six assists, three digs and an ace, while Roskos added five digs. Taylor, Dejno and Woychik all had one dig.

Adison Pronschinske had 13 assists against Pittsville to go with one kill and nine digs. Aubrie Pronschinske had eight kills, four digs and two aces while Pape had five kills, one block, nine digs and one ace. Woychik added a kill while Roskos had five digs, Taylor had four and Theisen had two. Dejno added an ace for the Indees.

Statistics for the Greenwood match were not available due to technical issues.
