Independence, Whitehall golf teams battle for third place

It has been a clean sweep for Eleva-Strum since the Dairyland Conference teams began conference competition as Independence and Whitehall are tied for third.

While Whitehall has finished ahead of Independence in all but two competitions, they’ve finished fifth when they haven’t finished third. Independence has consistently finished fourth in the conference matches until last Thursday when they took third. As a result, both Independence and Whitehall have 42 points, Gilmanton is next with 36. E-S has 70, C-FC has 60 while Augusta and Alma/Pepin are out of contention with 20 and 10.

Conference competition continued this week Tuesday when the teams golfed in Arcadia. This coming Monday, they’ll compete at Whitehall before an 18-hole conference event next Tuesday.

DC at Gilmanton

The Cardinals topped the field by six strokes while Whitehall took third and Independence was fourth at Gilmanton’s home meet held in Mondovi.

Matt Poulos led Whitehall with a 49 while both Keanu Estenson and Drake Jurowski shot 56. Mike Payne finished with a 59 for the Norse and Kaiden Gaier had a 63.

Gabe Rombalski tied for third overall with a 45 to lead the Indees. Trent Servais shot a 55, while John Roskos came in with a 63 and Hunter Tulius had a 68.

With top goler Nick Higley, E-S shot a 180 ahead of C-FC, 186; Whitehall, 220; Independence, 231; Gilmanton, 241; Augusta, 368 and Alma/Pepin, 400.

DC at A/P

The Cardinals continued their sweep of the conference while Independence took third and Whitehall was fifth.

Rombalski shot a 45 to lead the Indees while Servais came in at 57; Pfaff, 58 and Roskos, 61.

Estenson’s 56 led the Norse, two strokes better than Jurowski with Poulos shooting 62, Payne, 66 and Gaier, 73.

E-S shot a 184, seven strokes better than C-FC while Independence came in at 222, Gilmanton, 241; Whitehall, 242; Augusta, 269 and A/P, 400.
