Local fastpich players honored

Two local fastpitch softball players were honored by the Wisconsin branch of the National American Fastpitch Association recently.

Whitehall Memorial High School graduate Ethan Ringlien was chosen as the 2021 Pitcher of the Year for his work in the circle for the FFATS Brewing Company team. The 2021 Player of the Year also spent time playing for FFATS. Tyler Damon played for the local team as well as Bar Blues as he earned the state’s top honor.

The awards were decided by a vote at Wisconsin NAFA’s annual meeting, held at the Sand Bar in Wisconsin Dells on April 10. Matt Anderson of Meister Dairy was voted Manager of the Year.

Another familiar local person was honored as it was decided to rename the 2022 Spring Fling after former Wilber Lime coach/sponsor and longtime Galesville resident John “Sporty” Salsman. The tournament will be played May 20 in the village of Denmark, located in Brown County.
