The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School baseball team opened its season last Friday, taking a 9-4 loss at the hands of La Crosse Logan at G-E-T Middle School.

Logan worked to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, scoring on a wild pitch before adding runs on a sacrifice fly and a walk with the bases loaded.

The visitors pushed the lead to five before the Red Hawks responded, scoring their first two runs of the season on a two RBI single from Owen Eddy in the bottom of the third inning.

Logan tacked on three more runs to open the fourth inning, and Warren Stoner drove in a run for the Red Hawks in the bottom of the inning to score Cole Williams. The teams traded runs in the fifth, as a Williams double brought in Zach Grams to close the scoring for both teams.

The Red Hawks were limited to four hits in the game but walked 13 times. Ethan Stoner started for G-E-T, allowing seven runs—five earned—on five hits to go with seven walks and a strikeout in just over three innings.

Teammate Brenden Brady relieved Stoner and allowed two runs on one hit, throwing four walks and two strikeouts before closer Jack Beedle gave up one hit and two walks over the final two innings.

G-E-T was scheduled to visit Mauston on Monday before hosting Onalaska Luther on Tuesday. The Red Hawks then are scheduled to play Westby in a doubleheader on Friday and visit Prairie du Chien on Saturday.
