Mustangs trample Norse in regional
The best team in the Dairyland Conference was clicking and Whitehall couldn’t keep up in the regional semifinal last week Tuesday.
Top-seeded Melrose-Mindoro took control of the game early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The team added two more in the second then broke the game wide open with seven in the fourth as it went on to win 12-0 in five innings.
The Norse were held without a hit in the game as Mel-Min pitcher Emma Severson struck out seven and also didn’t allow a walk. Mel-Min had eight hits in the win.
For Whitehall, the season ended with a 5-14 record, matching its win total from the 2024 campaign. The team is expected to return almost its entire roster with just two seniors — Khloe Bautch and Carson Coburn — graduating. The team will have four seniors next year as it had numerous freshmen and sophomores taking the field this year.
