Norse cagers lose to Panthers

The Whitehall boys basketball team wasn’t able to recover from a slow start as it fell to Durand last week.

The Panthers scored 20 of the first 25 points in the game before the Norse got back into it. The Norse got the lead down to single digits before halftime and were within six at 31-25 early in the second half. The Panthers regained control, however, and pulled away with a 22-6 run.

Whitehall made a late push. A steal and a layup by Preston Schroeder got the Norse within nine with about 50 seconds remaining. Seth Lambeck added a three pointer on Whitehall’s next possession, making the score 68-60, with 40 seconds left. It was too little too late, however, as Durand won by that score.

No further information was provided for the Times.

At 1-1 on the season, Whitehall played at Melrose-Mindoro on Tuesday and will host Blair-Taylor on Friday. They’ll have two home games next week against Augusta on Tuesday and Eleva-Strum on Thursday.
