Norse offense stalls late in loss to Regis

After controlling much of the first half, the Whitehall boys basketball team managed just 17 points in the second as Eau Claire Regis surged for the 65-47 win.

Whitehall held Regis to just eight points in the first 10 minutes of the game as they took a six-point lead. The Ramblers offense picked up, but the Norse stayed on top, taking a 30-28 lead into halftime.

But Whitehall couldn’t keep going offensively. The Ramblers pulled ahead early in the second half and went on for the double-digit win. No further information or statistics was reported to the Times before press time.

The non-conference loss dropped Whitehall to 12-6 on the season and ended a five-game winning streak. Whitehall sits a game behind Alma Center Lincoln for first place in the Dairyland Conference Large Division with four conference games remaining.

The Norse hosted Augusta on Tuesday of this week and will welcome Cochrane-Fountain City on Friday. After a game at third-place Melrose-Mindoro this coming Monday, Whitehall’s regular season ends at home next Thursday against Eleva-Strum.
