Norse return key players looking to compete in DC

The Whitehall girls basketball team returns some size inside as it looks to battle in the Dairyland Conference’s Large Division this year.

Whitehall graduated a first-team all-conference performer in point guard Norah Youngbauer, but returns it’s second-leading scorer and the top rebounder in the conference in senior Olivia Killian. As a junior, Killian averaged 11.6 points and 12 rebounds per game for Whitehall’s 9-15 squad.

While Youngbauer led the team in scoring last year, Whitehall also returns its third and fourth-leading scorers in Trinity Aasen (7.8 points per game) and Ashlyn Clatt (4.2). Clatt is entering her senior season and Aasen will be a junior with two years of varsity experience.

Other seniors returning to the Norse are Carson Coburn and Alexis Correa.

Juniors with varsity experience returning to the team this year are Haili Sluga and Eden Matejka.

Christina Cantlon is entering her second season as the Whitehall coach. She did not respond to an e-mail from the Times regarding the upcoming season.
