Norse third at DC golf match

The Whitehall golf team still has a shot at taking second place in the Dairyland Conference, but they’ll need to make up ground in the last three matches.

The Norse took third again last week at the meet in Mondovi. Cochrane-Fountain City has been well ahead of the rest of the conference and has 70 points on the season, while Eleva-Strum has 58 and Whitehall 52. The first-place team is awarded 14 points for each match, the second place team 12 and the third place team gets 10. If the Norse were to finish second in the remaining three matches, they would finish second in the conference. A third place finish in any of the matches, essentially clinches a third-place finish.  Alma/Pepin is fourth with 38 points, Independence and Augusta both have scored 22 and Gilmanton had 18.

The teams were in action again on Monday of this week as Whitehall hosted the rest of the conference teams. On Thursday, they’ll golf in Wabasha, Minn. and the 18-hole conference championship match is set for this coming Tuesday.
