Norse wrestlers sixth at Cadott tournament

Wylie Dunn won the 285-pound weight class as the Whitehall wrestling team finished sixth at the Cadott Invitational on Saturday.

Dunn won all three of his matches by pin, two of which were decided in the first period. He opened with a bye before pinning Cadott’s Tucker Salzgeber in 19 seconds. He followed that with a pin of Brandon Sommers from Phillips in 1:51.

The championship match took a little longer, but the end result was the same as Dunn pinned Andrew Schaefer of Menomonie in 3:10.

Dyland Moats (113), Alex Katzman (138) and Matthew Poulis (145) all took fourth for the Norse. All three wrestlers won their first two matches before losing their next two.

Brekken Kulig (170) and Adam Kleinhans (195) both finished fifth for the Norse. Both went 3-1 on the day, but lost in the quarterfinal round.

Bryce Johnson (126) finished seventh while Nolan Thompson (106) and Marcus Petersen (120) were eighth. Lucas Paske (160) was 10th and Brock Coburn (152) was 11th.

The Norse scored 321 points behind Cadott (487), Glenwood City (424), Regis-Altoona (398), Menomonie (348) and Hayward (330.5). There were 16 teams competing in the tournament.
