Pehler, Teske place as Arcadia open 2024 track schedule

A pair of Arcadia High School athletes placed inside the top three of their respective events to open the Raiders’ 2024 track and field season last Tuesday.

The Raiders opened the year last Tuesday with an indoor invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Arcadia, which also joined other county schools at an indoor meet at UW-La Crosse on Saturday (see story elsewhere in sports), was scheduled to return to UW-Stout this Thursday for another competition.

Senior Casidi Pehler was Arcadia’s lone winner last Tuesday, winning the pole vault with her jump of 11 feet, six inches.

The Division I North Dakota State University commit also finished near the top of the leaderboard in shot put, an event in which her toss of 36 feet, 10 inches was enough for second place.

Teammate Ted Teske earned a second-place award in high jump with a leap of 6 feet.

Hudson won the boys’ competition with 70.5 points, clear of seventh-place Arcadia’s 25. The Raider girls placed 14th as Wausau West (64) claimed the girls’ team title.
