Pirates sink Norse in DC play
Cochrane-Fountain City was able to control the line of scrimmage and hit big plays through the air in a 40-0 win over Whitehall on Friday.
The Norse couldn’t get going in the road Dairyland Conference game, managing just 3.3 yards per rush and not completing a pass in the game. C-FC, meanwhile, ran for 235 yards and sophomore quarterback Parker Kujak was four-for-four for 84 yards and two touchdowns to keep the Pirates undefeated on the season.
Whitehall (1-3, 0-2) returns home to face another team undefeated in Dairyland Conference play, Eleva-Strum. The Cardinals sit at 3-1 on the season and are coming off of a 22-21 win over Melrose-Mindoro.

The Pirates took control of the game with two touchdowns in the second quarter then broke it open with two more in the third.
C-FC had the lead thanks to a two-yard run by Reed Schmidtknecht in the first quarter. Schmidtknecht found the end zone again, this time from five yards out, early in the second and Grayden Barum’s point after made the score 13-0.
The Pirates scored again before half as Kujak connected with Barum for a six-yard touchdown pass that made the score 19-0 at the intermission.
Schmidtknecht scored his third touchdown of the game, this time on a one-yard plunge in the third quarter. Kujak then connected with Tye Popp for a 34-yard touchdown pass. Barum hit both extra points to make the score 33-0 after three quarters.
Maverick Arneson added an eight-yard touchdown in the fourth and Barum’s extra point made the score 40-0.
A week after getting going late offensively, the Norse weren’t able to get going at all. Whitehall put up 32 points in the second half of its loss to B-T two weeks ago but had no such surge last week. Bo Killian had a team-high 71 rushing yards on 21 attempts. The Norse finished with 115 yards on 35 rushes.
Aidan Lisowski ran for 84 yards on 10 attempts for C-FC, which had four players finish with more than 30 rushing yards.
