Platteville sweeps G-E-T in playoff net opener

Sixth-seeded Platteville took down 11th-seeded Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau in the first round of the WIAA regional volleyball playoffs on Thursday.

Platteville earned the sweep over visiting G-E-T (5-17 this season) and has since defeated second-seeded River Valley to advance to the sectional round of the playoffs. The Red Hawks’ season closes with the loss.

G-E-T lost the first set by 10 points, the next two were closer, but both ended in losses, 25-19 and 25-21.

Sevannah Hynes paced G-E-T with a handful of kills, while teammate Elyse Schoonover had four and Tatum Johnson contributed three. Kaylee Hauge led the way for the Red Hawks with nine assists, and Mandy Pierson had two.
