The opening week of games to start a new summer of legion baseball yielded a mixed bag of results for Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Post 354, as they enjoyed both a season-opening sweep and a lopsided loss.

G-E-T swept Prairie du Chien in a doubleheader to start off its 2025 schedule, then lost the opener of a doubleheader against Onalaska a few days later. The second game against Onalaska was postponed after six innings with both teams tied 1-1.

Post 354 (2-1) is set to take part in a tournament in Black River Falls this weekend, where they will face Appleton Post 38 on Friday, BRF and Prairie du Chien on Saturday and Elk Mound on Sunday.

After that, they host both Sparta and Holmen for doubleheaders starting at 5 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

G-E-T 7 PDC 3

G-E-T rode a late surge of runs to begin the 2025 campaign with a comeback win over Prairie du Chien last Monday in Galesville.

Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Post 354 leapfrogged ahead thanks to Ben Hansen’s two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. They tacked on three more runs for good measure in the sixth inning thanks to Calvin Davis’s two-run double and Jackson Burns’s RBI single.

Sam De Jager finished the game 3 for 3 with a double, a walk and two runs while Hansen went 2 for 3 with a walk and a pair of RBIs.

G-E-T 5 PDC 2

One big rally was enough for Post 354 to finish off the sweep of Prairie du Chien in a game that was called after three innings.

After falling behind 2-0, G-E-T erupted for a five-run rally in the bottom of the third that included two-run singles by both Davis and Burns along with a Hansen RBI single. Hansen was 2 for 2 with a double.

Onalaska 15 G-E-T 2

Onalaska Post 336 ripped off eight runs in the top of the first and never looked back in a blowout win over Post 354 last Thursday in Galesville.

Davis was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Mitchell Thell had an RBI double in the defeat.
