Raider girls split with Westby, Viroqua

The Arcadia girls basketball team lost a lead in one game, but controlled another game to earn a split in Coulee Conference play last week.
The Raiders had a 11-point lead early against Westby, but fell 53-44 at home last week Tuesday. On Thursday, though, they were in complete control, beating Viroqua 91-25.
Arcadia enters this week with a record of 4-14 (4-4 in CC play) before hosting Eleva-Strum on Monday and Independence on Thursday. The Raiders return to conference play this coming Tuesday when they head to Black River Falls.
Westby 53 Arcadia 44
A step-back three pointer by Breah Golden put the Raiders ahead 20-9 about eight minutes into the game, but they managed just 24 points in the final 28 minutes.
That three pointer was a part of a strong first half for the Raiders as they took a 26-18 lead into halftime.
Westby got going in the second half, whereas the Raiders couldn’t get shots to fall.
Arcadia made 10 three pointers, but shot just seven-for-18 inside the paint and didn’t attempt a single free throw in the game.
Golden led the team with 23 points, while Casidi Pehler had eight.

The Raiders sank a school record 20 three pointers as blew past the Blackhawks.
Golden was on fire, making 12 three pointers in the game as she scored a career-high 39 points. She shot 13-for-24 from the field, including 12-for-21 on three-point attempts.
She wasn’t alone, however as Kianna Suchla also had a career high with 18 points. Pehler scored four points, but had 12 rebounds and seven assists.
The Raiders shot 43 percent on 77 field goal attempts and were five-for-10 from the free-throw line.
