Raider girls team splits with Logan, Viroqua

After dropping another tough nonconference game, the Arcadia girls basketball team moved to 2-0 in Coulee Conference play.

The Raiders opened last week with a 75-63 loss to La Crosse Logan before blitzing Viroqua 79-43. 

Arcadia began this week with a. 2-4 overall record and 2-0 in Coulee Conference play, tied with West Salem and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at the top of the conference.

The Raiders host Black River Falls on Friday and will head to Holmen on Tuesday before another non-conference game against Durand on Thursday.

Logan 75 Arcadia 63

The Raiders got a big night from Breah Golden, but they couldn’t keep up with the Rangers. 

Golden scored a career-high 29 points on nine-of-18 shooting, while going eight-for-nine from the free-throw line. That helped the Raiders score what was a season-high in points, but the Rangers were too deep.

Logan got 20 points from Jazzy Davis, 15 from Jojo Davis, 13 from Adrianna Lien and 12 from Aaliyah Hamilton. They moved the ball, assisting on 22 of their 30 field goals and took care of the ball as Arcadia had just six steals.

The Raiders shot 44 percent from the field as they also got 15 points from Autumn Passehl while Casidi Pehler and Jaicee Kolstad both scored six, Kianna Suchla had four, Alyssa Schank, two and Kaitlyn Bremer, one.

The Raider knocked down 14 three pointers as they took control early against the Blackhawks.

Arcadia scored 44 points in the first half as they took a 21-point advantage into halftime. They continued to pull away in the second half. 

The Raiders shot 41 percent from the field, but 48 of their attempts were three pointers. They earned extra possessions by controlling the glass with 47 rebounds — both Suchla and Pehler had 11. 

Golden had another big game for the Raiders with 25 points while Passehl came in with 21. Both Pehler and Suchla scored eight, Bremer, five and Schank, two.
