Raiders finish in eighth at Holmen invite

Arcadia junior Kalyce Sobotta broke 100 and finished in the top 30 in the individual standings to lead the way for the Raiders at an invitational in Holmen last week.Arcadia placed eighth out of 10 teams with a cumulative score of 408 at the Holmen Viking Invitational, held last Monday at Drugan’s Castle Mound Golf Course.
Sobotta led four Raider juniors by shooting a 97 that left her in a tie for 27th among the 52 golfers competing at Drugan’s Mound. Amaya Schlesser wasn’t far behind Sobotta with a 101, while Sacia Boland and Riley Walters each carded a 105 for Arcadia.
River Falls finished atop the team standings with a 328, ahead of Tomah (335) in second and Onalaska (346) in third.
La Crosse Aquinas senior Molly Swift fired a 73 to place first overall in the individual standings, followed by River Falls junior Elsie Schmid in second with a 75, Tomah senior Karma Hasselberger and Westby/Viroqua senior Maddi Fletcher in a tie for third with an 80 each and River Falls senior Addy Timm in fifth with an 81.
Red Hawks start season in Tomah
A day prior to competing alongside Arcadia at Trempealeau Mountain a couple weeks back, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls golf team began the 2025 season on August 18 at the Tomah Tune-Up at Hiawatha Golf Club.
The Red Hawks were last in 20th in the team standings with a 574, led by senior Jazlynn Olson with a 117 and sophomore Julia Baures with a 127. Junior Madeline Ruud and sophomores Eva Schubert and Bianca Casey also competed for G-E-T.
Host Tomah defeated the rest of the field with a winning score 337, ahead of River Falls (359) in second and Onalaska (366) in third.
After Arcadia and G-E-T each compete at the first Coulee mini meet of the season at Viroqua Hills on Wednesday, both teams will take part in another conference mini meet next Thursday at Walnut Grove Golf Course in Cochrane.
