The Arcadia High School boys basketball team fought through a pair of emotional games last week.

Arcadia bested a nearby county opponent on Monday before losing to a Mississippi Valley Conference foe on a buzzer beater on Friday.

The Raiders (4-7 overall, 0-5 Coulee Conference) are scheduled to visit Durand-Arkansaw on Monday before they try for their first conference win against Viroqua on Thursday.

Altoona is set to travel to Arcadia on Saturday as well.

A 10-point cushion at halftime on Monday was questioned with a tight second half at Arcadia High School, but the Raiders closed the game out for a win over their Trempealeau County foe.

Whitehall’s record dropped to 9-3 with the loss.

Maverick Drazkowski and Connor Weltzien traded scores for the hosts through most of the effort, both eclipsing the 20-point mark. Weltzien scored a game-high 23, and Drazkowski finished with 21.

Whitehall had a pair of strong performances of their own as the Norse looked to battle back in the second half—Devon McCune scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half to lead Whitehall.

Brayden Lisowski added 13 for Whitehall, including a pair of threes after halftime.
