With the calendar flipped to May and the final weeks of the high school softball regular season upon us, the Arcadia Raiders are currently firing on all cylinders.

The Raiders (10-5, 7-2 Coulee) extended their winning streak to five games with lopsided wins against both Viroqua/Youth Initiative and La Crosse Central last week.

Arcadia has a key rivalry clash against G-E-T Thursday at 5 p.m. in Galesville, then will take part in a Saturday triangular in Elk Mound against Altoona at 11 a.m. and the host Mounders at 1 p.m.

Early next week, the Raiders host Independence/Gilmanton Monday at 5 p.m. then play at Durand-Arkansaw Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Big rallies in the third and fourth innings helped the Raiders jump ahead and then pull away against the Blackhawks (7-7, 3-3) in Coulee action last Tuesday in Arcadia.

Trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the third, Arcadia was able to leapfrog in front with a four-run burst fueled by Tatum Drazkowski’s RBI double and Tessah Ely’s bases-loaded walk. The Raiders began to pile it on with five more runs in the fourth, highlighted by Kaitlyn Bremer’s two-run double.

Back-to-back RBI singles by Layna Wozney and Bremer in the fifth and Amaya Schlesser’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth allowed the Raiders to close out the win via the mercy rule.

Schlesser finished 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs and Drazkowski went 3 for 5 with an RBI and four runs scored. Wozney struck out six in three scoreless innings of relief pitching to earn the win in the circle.

A Kaitlyn Bremer gem and a Layna Wozney home run were the highlights of Arcadia’s shutout win over the RiverHawks (5-10) this past Friday in La Crosse.

Bremer kept the Central bats in check throughout the evening, allowing five hits and fanning five across seven shutout innings. With her team already leading 8-0 in the top of the seventh, Bremer added an exclamation point with a two-run blast to right.

Kiley Fitzpatrick went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Schlesser notched a pair of RBIs as well for the Raiders in the victory.
