Raiders settle for second at Coulee championship meet

As was often the case during this season, the Arcadia girls golf team settled for a second-place finish behind Black River Falls at the final conference meet of the fall.
The Tigers put the finishing touches on a conference title by finishing in first at the 2025 Coulee Conference Championship, held this past Thursday at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club.
BRF posted a team score of 421 in the 18-hole competition, finishing 15 strokes ahead of Arcadia in second at 436. G-E-T followed in third with a cumulative score of 524.
The Raiders had four golfers inside the top 10 at the conference meet: Kalyce Sobotta in a tie for fifth with a 105, Riley Walters in sixth with a 106, Amaya Schlesser in eighth with a 107 and Sacia Boland in 10th with a 118.
The Red Hawks had Jazlynn Olson in ninth with a 112, Julia Baures in 14th with a 128, Addy Devine in 15th with a 137 and Eva Schubert in 18th with a 147.
In terms of the season-long race for the conference championship, BRF claimed 58 out of 60 possible points by winning four of out five nine-hole mini meets and the 18-hole Coulee championship meet. Arcadia won one mini meet and was second at everything else, finishing second in the final standings with 50 points. G-E-T accrued 36 points with six third-place showings.
Walters earned the fifth and final spot on the All-Coulee first team with 55 individual points based on her performances at the six Coulee meets. She was behind only Westby Viroqua’s Maddi Fletcher (90 points) — who won last Thursday’s meet with a score of 80 — BRF’s McKenzie Apicella (73.5), Cochrane-Fountain City’s Bailey Kujak (72.5) and BRF’s Kaylee Wood (70).
G-E-T’s Olson led the group of second-team honorees with 53.5 points, joined by BRF’s Andrea Cogswell (47) and a trio of Raiders: Boland (42.5), Sobotta (40) and Schlesser (37.5). Baures represented the Red Hawks among the honorable mentions.
BRF meet
Three days before the conference championship, Coulee teams competed in their fifth and final mini meet of the fall last Monday at Skyline Golf Club in Black River Falls.
The host Tigers won with a team score of 209, followed by Arcadia (225) in second, G-E-T (237) in third and Westby/Viroqua (252) in fourth. Fletcher carded a 35 to place first in the individual standings, 12 strokes clear of any other golfer.
The Raiders had their top four golfers all bunched together: Sobotta with a 53, Schlesser with a 55, Walters with a 58 and Boland with a 59. Olson led the Red Hawks by firing a 52, followed by Madeline Ruud (61), Baures (61) and Schubert (63).
