Raiders shut out by Westby

Westby’s first batter of the game reached base and came around to score the only run in a 1-0 win over Arcadia last week Tuesday.

Arcadia couldn’t manage any offense, striking out 13 times in the 1-0 loss that put their record at 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the Coulee Conference.

The Raiders played at Black River Falls on Monday of this week and again at home against G-E-T on Tuesday before going to Onalaska Luther on Thursday. This coming Monday brings a home doubleheader against Viroqua before they play at Tomah on Tuesday and West Salem on Thursday.

Westby 1 Arcadia 0

Courtney Bjorge allowed just one hit and no walks, but an unearned run left her with the loss.

Westby’s Macy Stellner reached on an error to start the bottom of the first and came in to score on another. Errors allowed Westby’s only other runners in the game, but they wouldn’t need any more runs.

Eight of the first nine Arcadia batters struck out after Chloe Halverson led off with a single. The Raiders threatened in the fourth as Bjorge and Casidi Pehler singled in consecutive at-bats, but a groundout and a strikeout ended the threat.

The Raiders got one more runner on with two outs in the seventh, but a groundout ended the game.
