Raiders take down Mustangs with softball regional ahead
Arcadia put a bow on a season aimed toward getting younger players experience last week, and the Raider softball team will hope to keep those new experiences coming as playoffs loom.
The Raiders capped off the 2024 regular season with a victory over Melrose-Mindoro last week and boast a 12-6 record. They finished second in the Coulee Conference at 8-4.
Arcadia was granted a fourth seed in the Division Three playoffs and earned a home playoff game, set for this Tuesday against fifth-seeded Elk Mound (11-9 this season). The winner will advance to play the winner of top-seeded Prescott and eighth-seeded Nekoosa this Thursday.

When the Mustangs (14-6) took the lead in the top of the sixth inning of last Thursday’s game at Arcadia High School, the hosts didn’t flinch.
Arcadia got a two-run double from Jordan Walters in the bottom of the sixth inning to reclaim the lead, and Walters scored herself to add insurance for the Raiders.
The Raiders rattled off 11 hits in the victory, one that saw Amaya Schlesser, Kaitlyn Bremer and Lauren Conrad finish with two hits apiece.
Bremer pitched five innings for the hosts, giving up nine hits to go with three strikeouts. Layna Wozney closed the game and earned the win, throwing two strikeouts and a walk with five hits allowed.
