Raiders third, Red Hawks see individual success at C-FC meet

Arcadia finished third as a team while Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau golfers Claire Wagner and Jazlynn Olson cracked the top five individual rounds in a Coulee Conference golf meet last week in Cochrane.

Conference golfers descended upon the par-34 front nine at The Grove Golf Course last Tuesday, the lone competition for county golfers last week.

Trempealeau County will see plenty of golf this week as Arcadia hosts its conference meet on Monday at Arcadia Country Club before G-E-T gets its chance to host the Coulee field at Ettrick Golf Course this Thursday.

Wagner shot a 16-over-par 50 to place fourth at The Grove last Tuesday, and Olson finished with a 51, the fifth-best score.

Arcadia sophomore Sacia Boland shot a 58, good for 12th place, and teammates Jordan Walters and Kaylee Sobotta tied for 14th with matching 60s. Riley Walters, an Arcadia sophomore, tied with G-E-T freshman Julia Baures at 65.

The Raiders also saw a 66 from Amaya Schlesser and a 67 from Annabelle Russell.

Black River Falls won the team event with 206 strokes, ahead of the host Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates at 216 and Arcadia’s 243. Westby/Viroqua carded a 322, while G-E-T did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Westby/Viroqua junior Maddi Fletcher was again the individual champion, finishing with a 6-over-par 40. Fletcher began the round 7-over through the first three holes before using a birdie and five pars to finish in the lead.

Jordyn King of Black River Falls was the second-best golfer on Tuesday with a 43.
