Red Hawk boys earn third Coulee basketball win

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School boys basketball team is back over .500 in Coulee Conference action.

The Red Hawks took care of business against Viroqua last Friday, winning 70-44 at home in their only game of the week. The team is now 6-7 on the year, including a 3-2 record in conference play.

Coach Jared McCutchen and G-E-T continued play this Monday against Cochrane-Fountain City. Westby will visit on Thursday for the first of two games in as many weeks between the conference opponents.

Junior Cody Schmitz scored 29 points in 18 minutes and G-E-T raced to a 20-point advantage in the first half to take control of last Friday’s conference battle.

The Red Hawks held a 42-22 lead at the break on Friday, and nine different players scored for the hosts. 

Braden Anibas had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for G-E-T.

Viroqua (1-10, 0-4 Coulee) was led by Henry Urch’s 11-point showing.
