Red Hawks endure lopsided defeats

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau had a tough opening week on the road to kick off the new girls basketball season, suffering blowout losses to both Altoona and Cashton.

The Red Hawks (0-2) will aim for a better result when they host Mauston (1-1) in their home opener ahead of the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday evening in Galesville.

Altoona 56 G-E-T 18

The Railroaders (2-0) handed the Red Hawks a 38-point defeat on the opening night of the 2024-25 high school girls basketball season last Tuesday in Altoona.

Addi Silverling poured in 20 points and swiped six steals to lead the Altoona effort. Braylyn Silvering and Amber Bresina each chipped in eight points, with Silverling also recording seven rebounds, six assists and five steals.

G-E-T junior Amara Brantner tallied a team-high nine points in the loss.

Cashton 66 G-E-T 26

The Eagles (2-0) flew past the Red Hawks in their non-conference battle last Thursday in Cashton.

Leading scorers for Cashton included Kennedy Brown with 16 points, Taylor Lindley-Schendel with 14 and Marlee Schroeder with eight. G-E-T sophomore Joshlyn Lunsford scored seven points to lead the Red Hawks.
