Red Hawks fall to Norse, Raiders

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau volleyball team is still looking for its first Coulee Conference win after dropping a pair of matches last week.

The Red Hawks were close in a couple of sets against Westby, but fell 3-0 on Tuesday. G-E-T tied its match with Arcadia after two sets, but lost the third and the fourth to fall to 0-8 in Coulee Conference action.

G-E-T’s overall record is 3-19, including a loss against Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Saturday. Statistics for that match and the one against Arcadia were not sent to the Times before press time.

The Red Hawks were scheduled to play in Viroqua on Tuesday of this week before returning home to face West Salem. The team plays at Black River Falls this coming Tuesday before finishing the regular season at home against Onalaska Luther next Thursday.

The Red Hawks had two close sets, but came up empty in the match.

Amara Brantner had 10 kills and two blocks to lead the team at the net. Audrey Swenson added eight kills while Taryn Leighty and Amelia Walz split the setting duties; Leighty had 12 assists and Walz finished with 11. Leighty had four service aces, while Swenson had two. Clara Schulze had six digs.
