Six games over a stretch of five days gave the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks Post 354 legion baseball team a flurry of reps last week, one of those games ending with a win over nearby Arcadia.

Post 354 (7-7 this summer) defeated Arcadia 16-9 last Thursday at home to make up for a loss at the La Crosse A’s last Wednesday. They split four games in a weekend tournament at Onalaska, losing to the hosts on Friday before picking up a pair of wins on Saturday. They dropped a Sunday finale to end a busy week.

The G-E-T summer squad had a chance at a rematch against Onalaska at home this Monday. They have a doubleheader in West Salem this Thursday and play Coon Valley on Sunday.

La Crosse A’s 15 G-E-T 2

The hosts scored 14 runs in two innings to overtake G-E-T in their first game last week on Wednesday.

Davis scored both of Post 354’s runs in a game the visitors registered four hits. Ben Hansen led Post 354 with a 2-for-3 hitting performance.

Four different players pitched for Post 354, allowing eight hits and 11 earned runs to partner with five Ks and seven walks.

G-E-T 16 Arcadia 9

Early blunders on defense gave Arcadia the lead last Thursday, but the hosts stayed in the game long enough to come back and steal the win on their home field.

Post 354 started the game with a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run double from Myles Marley, but Arcadia took advantage of an error and five straight walks to claim a 5-3 advantage. More walks and back-to-back errors pushed the visitors’ lead to four runs in the third inning, but the hosts outscored the visitors 9 to 2 in the final four innings to escape with a victory.

Marley hit a double to get Post 354 within two runs of Arcadia in the bottom of the third inning, and a Calvin Davis double tied the game five at-bats later. Adain Busch scored on an Oliver Remus single to give G-E-T the lead, and the hosts scored seven times in the sixth inning.

Remus hit 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs, and Marley’s two hits earned him 4 RBIs. Tucker McDonah and Davis also hit 2-for-5 for Post 354.

Arcadia’s offense was strong alongside taking advantage of early mistakes by G-E-T — Chase Back, Carson Wozney and Max Sobotta all finished with two hits for Arcadia Post 17. Wegman, Back and Wozney split pitching duties across the first five innings, and Austin Fernholtz closed the game.

Arcadia pitchers combined for six strikeouts and 14 walks. Busch, Caiden Brady and Davis pitched for the hosts, allowing eight hits and two earned runs while striking out five Arcadia batters and walking eight.

Onalaska 10 G-E-T 3

A 2-2 deadlock through one inning was broken by Onalaska as the hosts kicked off a summer tournament with a victory over Post 354 last Friday.

A Nicholas Crum double scored Brady and Davis for G-E-T in the first inning, but a pair of first-inning singles for Onalaska tied the game in the bottom half of the inning. Onalaska scored four more runs in the third inning and added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Onalaska outhit G-E-T 13 to seven, with Crum leading the way for Post 354 offensively with a single and a double. Nathan Holthaus started on the mound for G-E-T, throwing five innings. Holthaus struck out four Onalaska batters and walked three.

G-E-T 7 Fennimore 4

Post 354 earned their first win of last week’s tournament behind a 4-run burst in the sixth inning on Saturday.

Brady tied the game at four on a ground out, and Myles Marley scored Oliver Marley to give G-E-T the lead. A single from Crum scored Davis and Myles Marley to extend the team’s lead.

Crum hit 3-for-4 with three singles, and Oliver Marley hit 2-for-3. Oliver pitched all seven innings for G-E-T, allowing only two hits. He threw six strikeouts and four walks.

G-E-T 5 PdC 2

An early offensive shot in game two on Saturday helped G-E-T beat Prairie du Chien’s 19U team.

A double from Davis and a single from Crum kickstarted the offense for G-E-T, with Crum’s single scoring Myles Marley after Marley was walked in the game’s first at-bat.

An Oliver Marley double made it 4-0, and Post 354 never trailed in the game.

Remus, Davis and Oliver Marley all batted 2-for-4. Brady earned the win as G-E-T’s pitcher, giving up four hits and no earned runs in seven innings.

BRF 6 G-E-T 0

Black River Falls kept G-E-T off the scoreboard and limited a familiar opponent to two hits in the final game of the tournament on Sunday.

Black River Falls recorded 10 hits of their own, scoring twice in the second inning and three more times in the third before scoring once in the fourth inning.

Crum and Holthaus had Post 354’s hits, both of them being doubles. Myles Marley started for G-E-T, throwing two strikeouts and surrendering seven hits in three innings. Ben Filla closed the game, throwing four innings. Filla allowed three hits and one run while striking out four batters and walking two.
