Red Hawks split with B-T, BRF

After losing to Blair-Taylor, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls basketball team was able to tame the Black River Falls Tigers.

B-T, one of the top-ranked teams in Division Five, took a big lead early and pulled away (see story elsewhere in Sports). On Friday, the Red Hawks were able to get a balanced scoring attack in a blowout win over the Tigers.

G-E-T entered this week with a record of 5-8, including a 3-1 mark in Coulee Conference play, in a cluster of teams behind undefeated West Salem.

The race for second in the conference could sort itself out in the coming weeks as the Red Hawks play at Onalaska Luther on Thursday and host Arcadia this coming Tuesday. Next Friday, they’ll head to Westby.

Three Red Hawks finished in double figures as they limited the Tigers.

Aleah Hunter led G-E-T with 16 points while Lindsey Letter added 14 and Shayna Kirkey scored 13. Both Hunter and Letter made three three pointers to spread out the BRF defense.

No further information was reported to the Times.
