Ruiter 42nd, Monroy 50th at state XC

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau’s Sam Ruiter and Arcadia’s Jose Monroy each cracked the top 50 in a competitive field  of 113 runners at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Two State Cross Country Championship last week.

Runners weathered a windy Saturday in Colby, where Edgewood’s Leo Richardson was first across with a time of 15:47.05. Ruiter was the 42nd overall finisher with a time of 17:39.34, while Monroy was about 10.5 seconds behind in 50th with a time of 17:49.87.
