Theis, Knott end 2024 golf season at sectional

Arcadia senior Joey Theis and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau senior Domanick Knott ended the 2024 boys golf season for Times area golfers last week.

Theis and Knott were among the 72 golfers who traveled to Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake last Tuesday for a WIAA Division Two sectional tournament.

Theis shot a 46 on the front nine and matched it with another 46 on the final nine holes to finish with a 92 at the par-71 course.

Knott, meanwhile, shot a 101 on Tuesday, posting a 49 on the front nine and a 52 on the back nine.

Lakeland Union won the team sectional with 316 strokes to advance to the state golf meet this week. Amery’s 322 also advanced them to state by placing second as a team. Prescott, the third-place team, finished one stroke behind Amery.

The top three individuals from Tuesday’s meet also qualified for the state championship, which was held this Monday and Tuesday at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wis.

Tyler Reiter of Prescott had the day’s best round, finishing with a 1-over-par 72. Chase Van Ranst of Baldwin-Woodville and Ben Vande Vert of Rice Lake claimed the final two individual qualifying spots with matching 73s.
