Three Indees named to All-DC baseball team

While they fell just short of a Dairyland Conference title, three Independence/Gilmanton players were named to the all-conference team, matching DC champion Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran.

The Indees went 14-3 in the conference, finishing behind Lancers’ 16-2 mark — two of I/G’s losses came to ECI. The Indees did match the Lancers in terms of first-team all-conference selections with three, more than any other team. Picked for the Indees were Wyatt Kuerschner, Hunter Guenther and Chris Killian.

Behind I/G was Melrose-Mindoro, 13-5; Pepin/Alma, 12-6; Whitehall, 9-7; C-FC 9-9; Blair-Taylor, 8-10; Eleva-Strum, 4-14; Augusta, 3-14 and Alma Center Lincoln, 0-18.

Kyle Steien was a first-team pick for B-T, which also had Cain Fremstad and Tyler Thompson as second-team selections.

Chase Blaha was a second-team pick for Whitehall.

Other first-team members include: Jonah Mueller, Christian Schaller and Ryan Zimmerman, ECI; Tucker Sbraggia and Elijah Miller, Mel-Min; Lane Wieczorek and Riley Stiehl, P/A and Cole Nisbit, C-FC.

Other second-team selections include: Andrew Bissen, Austin Becker and Zach Foley, C-FC; Chase Stense-Veenendall, Augusta; Colton Brecka and Jordan Pearson, P/A; Zach Kastenschmidt and Bryan Gasch, Mel-Min and Ethan Sydow, ECI.
