Tomah spreads scoring, bests Red Hawks

On a night that was decided by a single basket, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau boys basketball team was in the fight until the very end of last Monday’s nonconference loss to Tomah.

The Red Hawks ultimately fell to the Timberwolves 61-58 in a game that saw plenty of offense—Tomah had three players hit double-digit scoring while the hosts had a pair hit the same mark in juniors Cody Schmitz (20) and Braden Anibas (16).

Tom Hesse led Tomah with 16. Brady Plueger contributed 15 and Tyler Kleifgren had 13 for the visitors in the win. The Red Hawks led 30-27 at halftime of a game that Tomah scored at a slightly more efficient clip than G-E-T (2-3 this season).

The Red Hawks were scheduled to play Baldwin-Woodville this Tuesday to open a two-day tournament at Aquinas High School in La Crosse.
