Tulip, Sonsalla lead Arcadia to win Coulee meet Thursday

If the first few weeks of competition are any indication for how the 2021 girls golf season will end, Hallie Tulip and Whitney Sonsalla are going to be competing deep into the postseason.

The Arcadia High School golfers finished first and second in a Coulee Conference meet at The Grove Golf Course in Cochrane last Thursday, leading Arcadia to a winning score of 172.

Gale-Ettrick Trempealeau took second place with a 189, ahead of Black River Falls at 198 and Nekoosa, which didn’t have enough golfers for a team score.

Tulip, a senior, won medalist honors at the event with a four-over par 38, and Sonsalla carded a 42. Arcadia senior Mackenzie Wolfe tied for sixth with junior teammate Ahnna Bautch at 46.

G-E-T senior Emily Nelson scored a team-low 44, good for third place. Juniors Bailey Maynard (47) and Maggie Bistodeau (48) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, for the Red Hawks.

Coulee Conference play continued Monday at the Arcadia Country Club and again on Tuesday at Trempealeau Mountain.
