Two Raiders crack top ten at Viroqua gymnastics invite
A pair of Arcadia gymnasts cracked the top 10 at an invitational meet in Viroqua on Friday.
Arcadia senior Nora Bergerson placed eighth in all-around scores with a 32.225 to lead the Raiders, just ahead of sophomore Hannah Gierok’s 31.1, good for ninth place.
The Raiders finished seventh as a team at the event, which saw the West Salem Co-op win with a 138.25.
Host Viroqua was second with a 129.1 and La Crosse rounded out the top three with a 126.075. Tomah (118.975), River Valley/Barneveld (109.7) and Westby (107.3) also competed, with Arcadia scoring an 82.525.
Arcadia was scheduled to visit Westby for a dual this Friday.
Bergerson’s best event last week was balance beam, where her 8.5 was tied for sixth place. Hailey Ives of West Salem won the event with a 9.2.
Bergerson placed 11th in floor with an 8.775, 14th in bars (7.2) and 17th in vault (7.75).
Morgan Siekert of Viroqua took the top individual spot on Friday with a 36.4. Siekert joined teammate Isabell Korn as the only two gymnasts to eclipse the 36-point mark at the event.
Gierok had her best showing on the uneven bars, taking ninth with a 7.8. Taliya Michlig of West Salem won the event with an 8.95.
Gierok’s ninth place finish was helped by placements of 17th on beam (7.2), 13th in floor (8.3) and a tie with Bergerson for 17th on vault (7.75).
Zoey George took 21st for Arcadia, scoring a 5.4 in floor, a 4.6 in beam, a 6.2 on vault and a 3.0 on bars.
