Whitehall golf team advances to sectional

The top two teams were clear, but the Whitehall golf team was able to lock down the fourth and final sectional qualifying spot at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Cochrane-Fountain City regional last week Tuesday.

The Norse scored a 380, led by Keanu Estenson, who had the meet’s fifth-best score with an 84. 

Drake Jurowski shot a 96 for Whitehall, one stroke better than Matthew Poulos while Adam Kleinhans shot a 103 and Kaiden Gaier finished with a 108.

Alma/Pepin was fifth in the five-team regional with a 461, while Whitehall finished 10 strokes behind Onalaska Luther. Neillsville won the regional with a 344, three strokes better than C-FC.

Two Independence/Gilmanton golfers also competed as Aidan Gaier shot a 113 and Mitchell Halvorson finished with a 114. 

Whitehall teed off again this week Tuesday at the Markesan Sectional. From there, the top two teams and three individuals will advance to the state tournament to be played this coming Monday and Tuesday.
