Whitehall softball season ends in regional quarterfinal
There were growing pains for the Whitehall softball team in its first year back, including a 13-0 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association regional quarterfinal loss to Osseo-Fairchild last week.
The Norse finished the season with a 1-17 record, though they came into it without much experience. The program didn’t have enough players to field a team last season and came back mostly with underclassmen and upperclassmen who didn’t have much — if any — varsity experience.
Whitehall fell behind O-F early as the Thunder scored two runs on one hit and four walks in the bottom of the first inning. O-F added four runs on two hits, two walks and an error in the second.
O-F added five more runs in the third and two in the fourth to go ahead by the final.
Ashlyn Clatt took the loss for Whitehall, allowing five hits and nine walks, while striking out four. Kelsie Klomsten pitched one inning, as she walked two, but did not allow a hit.
Three different Whitehall players had one hit.
