Whitehall softball team drops two in DC play
The Whitehall softball team struggled at the plate and in the field last week, losing two games by a combined score of 21-5.
Whitehall fell behind Blair-Taylor early in a 13-4 loss last week Tuesday (see story elsewhere in Sports). On Thursday, the team struggled offensively in an 8-1 loss to Eleva-Strum.
The losses dropped the Norse to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in Dairyland Conference play prior to Tuesday’s home game against Augusta. They’re slated to play at Independence/Gilmanton on Friday before heading to Alma Center Lincoln and Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran this coming Monday and Tuesday.

The Norse fell behind early and couldn’t get on the board until the seventh inning.
The Cardinals put up four runs on one hit, two walks and a hit batter in the bottom of the first inning. They added three more on three hits, two hit batters and an error to take a 7-0 lead after three innings.
A leadoff triple helped lead to another run as the Cardinals went ahead 8-0 entering the final frame.
After the first two Whitehall players hit out, consecutive errors hit into by Olivia Killian and Carson Coburn gave the team life. Avvia Herman singled Killian home, but that’s the only run Whitehall would get.
Ashlyn Clatt took the loss for Whitehall, striking out six while allowing six hits and four walks.
She didn’t get much support as Whitehall had more errors (four) than hits (three). Three different Whitehall batters had one hit.
