Whitetails fall to .500 with sixth straight loss

The Whitehall Whitetails are back at .500 as the team suffered its sixth straight loss to even its record on the season.

The Whitetails struggled offensively in Saturday’s 6-2 loss to the Eau Claire Cavaliers, a team Whitehall defeated earlier this season.

The Cavs took the lead with a run in the first and added to it with one more in the sixth. A two-run double put the Cavs ahead 4-0 in the seventh before the team added two more runs later in the inning to go ahead 6-0.

Whitehall got on the board in the seventh when Tavian Shramek and Brayden Lisowski hit consecutive RBI singles. The Whitetails had a chance for more in that inning, but stranded the bases loaded when Mason Pientok grounded out for the final out. 

The Whitetails went down in order in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Whitehall had just six hits in the game, two by Chris Killian. 

Tyler Webb took the loss on the mound as he pitched the first six innings, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out seven. Lisowski took the mound for the last three frames, striking out two while allowing four hits and one walk. 

The loss put Whitehall at 6-6, which is where the team will sit heading into a long break. Whitehall isn’t scheduled to play again until July 8 when it heads to Augusta.
