WHS boys, B-T girls win DC Central meet

The Blair-Taylor girls team scored 78 points and the Whitehall boys finished with 77 as both topped their respective fields for the team titles at the Dairyland Conference Central meet in Whitehall last week Tuesday.

Ben Mohan and Zach Spittler both had a hand in three first-place finishes for the Norse. Mohan won the 800 and the high jump, in addition to running on the first place 3200 team. Spittler was on two winning relays — 80 and 400 — and won the shot put.

Kevin Carroll was on the 3200 relay team and won the 1600, while the Norse also won the 1600 relay and Joaquin Rodriguez took the 300 hurdle crown.

Matt Brandenburg won three individual titles for second-place B-T as he took the 100, 400 and long jump. Porter Brown won the pole vault for the Wildcats  and Riley McAdams won the triple jump.

The B-T girls team won three of the four relays with the top times in the 3200, 1600 and 800 races as Dena Maldonado ran on all three. Faith Olson won the high jump while Juliann Doerr, Emmalee Johnson and Jenna Beam all tied for first in the pole vault for B-T. Grace Kling won the shot put

The Whitehall girls took third as they didn’t have any first-place finishers. They did get second-place finishes from Alexis Correa in the 100 and Avery Sonsalla in the triple jump. Their 800 relay team also took second.
