WHS net team splits DC matches, third at O-F tourney

The Whitehall volleyball team earned a split in two Dairyland Conference matches then finished third at a tournament in Osseo last week.

The Norse won one set, but fell to Cochrane-Fountain City, 3-1, last week Tuesday. On Thursday, the team swept Augusta, winning all three sets by at least five points. The Norse won two matches to begin the Osseo-Fairchild tournament on Saturday and finished the day with a 3-2 record.

Entering the final week of the regular season, Whitehall had a 12-11 overall record including a 5-4 mark in Dairyland Conference play. Whitehall’s final scheduled match will be at home against Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday. 

Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association play is set to begin next Tuesday, but the brackets had not been released as of last Monday.

The Norse tied the match 1-1, but the Pirates won the last two sets.

A couple of freshmen led the Whitehall attack at the net as Paige Lisowski had 13 kills and Bria Pank had three blocks. Kyla Lambeck had 15 set assists and Aryana Ausderau finished with five service aces.

Whitehall was in control throughout much of the match as the team won all three sets by at least five points.

Lisowski had 11 kills and Pank finished with three blocks. Lambeck had 24 assists and Avvia Herman registered five aces.

O-F Tournament

Harlow Foss had four aces in Whitehall’s, 25-20, 25-9, sweep to open the O-F tournament. 

Kelsie Klomsten led the way at the net with seven kills, Ausderau had three blocks. Lambeck had 10 assists and Herman finished with nine digs.

Lisowski had eight kills and four aces to help lead the Norse to a, 25-20, 25-9, win over Thorp.

Lambeck registered 16 assists, while Klomsten had two blocks and Herman finished with nine digs. 

Neillsville proved to be too much, sweeping the Norse, 25-18, 25-18.

Lisowski had eight kills and Pank finished with two blocks. Lambeck had 16 assists and Herman had nine digs.

The Norse were close in the first set, but dropped two to Durand-Arkansaw, 25-22, 25-14. 

Lisowski had five kills, Lambeck finished with 12 assists and Klomsten registered eight digs. 

The Norse beat the Cardinals again, 25-20, 25-21, as Ausderau had five kills while Lambeck finished with 17 assists and Herman had nine digs.
