Two more wins for the Blair-Taylor High School girls basketball team has the squad’s latest win streak up to eight games, dating back to their only loss of the season, 66-47 to Bangor, on Dec. 23.

Lindsay Steien remains one of the state’s leading scorers as she averages 28.5 points per game this season, good for second in Wisconsin. The junior scored 67 points in the team’s two wins last week.

Blair-Taylor (15-1 this season, 8-0 Dairyland Conference) nearly doubled up New Lisbon last Monday before holding Alma/Pepin to just 24 points on Tuesday. The team closed the week with a 92-point performance in a Friday win over Eleva-Strum.

Blair-Taylor hosted Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Monday and is scheduled to visit Whitehall on Thursday as well as Royall on Saturday.

Steien finished with her second-highest offensive output of the 2021-22 season on Friday, scoring 38 points in a win over the Cardinals (7-8, 7-3) at Blair-Taylor High School.

Thompson and Steien traded early baskets to get things started for the Wildcats, who then turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, coach Jesse Lien said.

“I thought the key to the game this evening was to get off to a fast start, which always starts on our defensive end for us leading to fast break opportunities,” he said.

Thompson finished with her second double-double of the week, scoring 14 points and dishing 14 assists. Kindschy scored 12, and senior Chloe Wagner had 10.
