Wildcats take control early in two wins

The Blair-Taylor girls basketball team continued to tear through the regular season with two lopsided wins last week.

The Wildcats scored more than 40 points in the first halves of their 74-39 win over Augusta last Tuesday and a 69-33 win over Plum City/Elmwood on Saturday.

The wins put B-T at 14-0 overall (6-0 in Dairyland Conference play) before this week Tuesday’s game at Independence. The Wildcats host Alma/Pepin on Friday and welcome Eleva-Strum next Thursday.

The Wildcats took control from the start, putting up 41 points in the first half as they went on for a lopsided win.

The Beavers kept the game closer than many other teams would’ve early on, but the Wildcats still took a 16-point lead into halftime then shut Augusta’s offense down in the second half. 

Lindsay Steien scored 23 points to lead B-T while Abby Thompson added 19 and Kierstyn Kindschy made five three pointers to finish with 15 points in the game.

It was another efficient performance for Steien as the Wildcats took control of the game early.

The B-T senior scored a game-high 28 points, making 11 of 17 field goal attempts and all five shots from the free-throw line. She added eight rebounds and seven assists. Her team took a 45-17 lead into halftime.

The Wildcats also got 18 points rom Thompson, who shot seven-for-nine from the field and Kidnschy added 12 points, making four three pointers. Thompson added seven assists.
