Wildcats top Lancers in double OT

The teams were evenly matched until Blair-Taylor outscored Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran more than two-to-one in the second overtime period for a 47-42 win.

B-T had a lead at halftime, but ECI tied the game to force overtime last week Tuesday. Both teams scored five points in the first overtime period, but B-T scored nine in the second for the win.

The win put B-T at 1-0 on the season before Tuesday’s home opener against Whitehall. The team plays at Cochrane-Fountain City next week Thursday.

Both teams struggled to score throughout the game, but the Wildcats had a little more luck in the second overtime.

The teams were evenly matched across the board and neither shot well from the field or the free-throw line, they rebounded and turned the ball over at a similar rate. B-T held an 18-14 lead at halftime, but ECI tied the game at 33 at the end of regulation.

Offensive struggles continued in the first overtime as both teams scored just five points. B-T finally broke through in the second, outscoring ECI 9-4, for the win.

B-T shot about 24 percent from the field, while ECI came in at roughly 26 percent. The Wildcats also struggled from the free-throw line, making just 14-of-33 attempts, while ECI was six-for-19. 

Andrea Waldera had 14 points and 11 rebounds for B-T while Samantha Aguilar added 14 points and six rebounds.
