Wildcats win three at E/PC net quad

The Blair-Taylor volleyball team won three matches at its season-opening quadrangular hosted by Elmwood/Plum City.

The Wildcats came away with wins 2-0 wins over Alma/Pepin, E/PC and Shell Lake. 

They won the first set against A/P 25-23 before controlling the second for a 25-12 win. Seniors Kierstyn Kindschy and Lindsay Steien tied to lead the team at the net with six kills. Kindschy added two blocks, while Steien had one. Freshman Andrea Waldera had four kills and two blocks. 

Abby Thompson totaled five service aces to lead the team and Madison Goodbear had 14 set assists.

Both matches against E/PC were close as the Wildcats came away with wins of 25-19 and 25-17. Steien had six kills, three blocks and three aces. Goodbear also had three aces to go with nine assists. Kindschy had two kills and three blocks and Thompson added two aces.

The Wildcats were mostly in control against Shell Lake, winning 25-18 and 25-15. 

The team excelled at the service line with 15 aces, led by Kindschy’s five while Goodbear added four, Thompson and Waldera, two, Steien and Faith Olson both had one. 

Steien added six kills and two blocks, while Kindschy had five kills and one block. Goodbear finished with eight assists.

The Wildcats will be in action again on Thursday when they head to Osseo-Fairchild. They’ll open Dairyland Conference play. Next Thursday at home against Augusta.
