Wrestling Roundup: G-E-T/Mel-Min scrapes out dual win over West Salem/Bangor

In a tightly contested dual, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro wrestling team did just enough to earn a team victory over West Salem/Bangor.

With several weight classes left unfilled, the Blair-Taylor wrestling team suffered three lopsided dual losses in a triangular hosted by Mondovi/Eleva-Strum last week Tuesday.

The Wildcats lost to the Saint Croix Central varsity team, 81-0, before falling to its varsity reserve squad, 37-18, and then to the host team, 42-12.

B-T forfeited 10 matches against the SCC varsity team. The closest match was a 5-0 loss by Billy Miller to Leo McKenna at 157 pounds. Jack Schauer pinned Austin Clemens at 126 pounds and Jayden Stave stuck Easton Rogstad at 165 pounds. Henry Miller lost his 175-pound match by injury forfeit.

The Wildcats did a little better against the SCC VR team. Clemens pinned Camryn Wille while Miller and Armoni Samples both received forfeits. Rogstad lost 1-0 to Cohen Wester and Henry Miller fell, 14-5, to Giovonni Stork.

B-T’s points against M/E-S came from a pin and a forfeit. Billy Miller pinned Bill Jardine in the first period and Clemens received a forfeit. Samples and Rogstad were both pinned and B-T gave up five forfeits.

The Wildcats wrestled in the Whitehall tournament on Friday — results were not available due to an early Times deadline. The team will compete at the Northern Badger Classic in River Falls this Friday and Saturday.
